
Identity Theft
Students are probably only vaguely aware of identity theft and the costs and difficulties it can create. However, as avid internet users and as new credit card customers they are prime targets.
Discussion Goals
- Explain the risks
- Describe the common scams
- Describe protective measures
- This can be part of the introduction to importance of credit-explain the importance of numbers such as drivers licenses.
- As a segue into this topic, introduce the concepts of
- "Identity Numbers", those that identify you, and
- "Describer numbers" (eg grade point average, SAT Score, and credit score) those that describe you.
